In Their Own Words.

"We hired McDermiad for an exterior painting job and we had great experience working with them. Gustova (Owner) was patient and communicated clearly with us about the process and expectation. He also visited the sites almost everyday when the job is underway. Saul, one of the team leads on the project, has shown great professionalism and deliver high quality of work. The team is detailed oriented. You probably won't get the quote from McDermaid for best price. They are probably more expensive but comes with quality. So if you are looking for a high quality result, look into McDermaid."

"McDermaid Painting just completed an extensive restoration of our 100 year old windows. This turned into a very large project, as they took the windows off of their frames and completely stripped them down to the bare wood. They repaired any frames or glass that was necessary and then returned the windows to their frames. They also identified a few other areas of our house that needed painting attention. They took the utmost care to keep our house and outside area clean as they worked, and the windows look fantastic now. All of the workers were extremely careful and professional, and the managers Gus and Emma checked in with me regularly to make sure everything was being done to our satisfaction. I highly recommend their services. They are not the cheapest, but you get what you pay for."

"McDermaid has helped us with painting projects for years, so this review is overdue! Gus and his team are fantastic. We have had full exterior work done, interior and also touch up painting. They've also cleaned gutters and power washed, cleaned windows and more. We are so grateful for the consistency of great work and kind crew that always comes out."

"McDermaid painting is the BEST. We have used them inside and outside our home and wouldn't consider anyone else. I am in love with Gus' philosophy - the way he treats his clients and the way he treats his team. Everyone who comes to my home is prepared, on time and someone I want to adopt. They are knowledgeable, thorough, and great to have around. Anne and Peter Steiner"

"Because of the dirty air from the fires we had layers of brown soot and dust on our house and it looked awful. I had McDermaid power wash the whole house, privacy wall, and hardscape. They arrived right on time in their clean white trucks, laid out their equipment very neatly, and went to work. By that evening my house looked brand new. If you want to do something to lift your spirits, try a Power Wash by McDermaid Painting. Jan"

"Outstanding in every way. We had our house exterior repainted, 19 years after our remodel, based on the referral of our contractor. I was impressed with the team, their workmanship, diligence, pace and attention to detail, and the high quality supervision by the foreman. It was a pleasure to watch them in action. I was also very pleased with the communications and coordination by CEO Gus Camolinga and the professional project management. Everything they did was first rate, we are really happy with the results, and look forward to arranging an interior refresh with McDermaid Painting."

"McDermaid Painting came highly recommended to us and proved to be stellar! They did an amazing job prepping our wood siding home, properly fixed some damaged areas and delivered a beautifully done paint job. They are the most detail oriented team I have ever worked with on our home projects, impressively professional, patient and understanding."

"Amazing is what I would say about the professionalism and attention to detail by Gus and all the associates. We could not be happier with the beautiful job of our exterior and look forward to having McDermaid continue with our interior. I have the highest admiration for the quality and the way you all extend yourselves over and beyond."

"McDermaid Painting has painted both the outside and inside of our house, and they did an excellent job. The crew is professional and efficient and have an amazing attention to detail. The end result is a beautifully restored home. They provide full service, including help in deciding which parts of your home need to be painted, what colors work best, and they make every attempt to accommodate your schedule. Our home could not look better, and we plan to have McDermaid Painting help us maintain our home in the future."

"Amazing is what I would say about the professionalism and attention to detail of Gus and all McDermaid associates. We could not be happier with the exterior of our house and look forward to continuing with the interior. The excellent service and efforts to go over and beyond is impressive. Thank you McDermaid!"

"I highly recommend McDermaid painting. From the moment I met Gus I knew we were dealing with a quality operation. I have dealt with many paint companies in my profession, and have never encountered a team like McDermaid. The consultation was extremely thorough and professional, and I was educated about why the previous exterior paint job had failed and what they would do differently (a lot). They also guarantee their work in the case of any problem (not anticipating any problems). Gus and his crew went out of their way to provide excellent customer service, excellent workmanship, excellent schedule, excellent experience in every way, and we ended up with a high quality paint job that will protect our home for a long time. They came on time, did what they said, actually overdelivered. Every member of the team was courteous, informed and very respectful of our home. Can't recommend more highly! Recently we had an unrelated minor repair on the exterior of the home. We called Gus on a Sunday to see if they could help. They came over right away. What service! Yes they charge more, and it's because they do a great job with good materials, and take care of their employees, and take care of their customers. You will not regret working with McDermaid."

"We are very happy with all aspects of McDermaid Painting. They have painted portions of the interior and exterior of our Menlo Park home several times over the last couple of decades. The most recent (exterior, September/October 2018) continued in the same way, from estimate to power washing to painting and through clean up. Gus spotted a number of problem areas that needed attention that we had not noticed, thus avoiding trouble in the future. Quality of the work was excellent. An appropriately paced schedule was followed. Painters respected the plantings near our home and got the job done without any significant damage to vegetation, a point important to us. The clean up was thorough and rapid. The cost of this high quality painting is not out of line with what one would expect for craftsman work on the Peninsula and we believe is justified because we are confident that the resulting paint job will have a long life, not to mention the pleasure of working with Gus and his knowledgeable and highly skilled painters."

"It was an absolute pleasure to work with McDermaid Painting from start to finish. Gus and his team were very thorough, clean, kind, and patient with our entire process. We had several large spaces inside our home painted, and they did an excellent job. We hired them to do our entire exterior as well, as a result. I would recommend highly."

"McDermaid painting is definitely top notch and the best painters I have ever used. We have used them for inside rooms, the entire outside of our house and also for furniture restoration. They do incredibly high quality preparation and work with detail and precision. I am so happy I found them and will definitely use them again. It was a pleasure to work with them."

"McDermaid Painting has truly exceeded my expectations with how professional and how well-organized they were from day one. I was immensely pleased and impressed with how they operated as a team to complete the project (painting the exterior of my house) within the promised timeline. They worked closely with me to make sure the end-result was exactly what I envisioned and I would immediately hire them again for a future project. Something that really stood out to me in the course of the whole project: In choosing the right color for the exterior of our house, they brought out their interior designer to advise us on what color ranges and shades would go best with our house. After we made our initial decision, they painted swatches of those colors directly onto our house in sunny and shady places so that we could really see how the overall effect would be. When we decided we didn't like any of the colors we had chosen and then chose a few more colors to test out, they immediately came back and painted swatches of those new colors onto our house. This was really helpful for us to make a final decision and I was honestly amazed by how they went the extra mile to cater to my needs. They really wanted the final product to be something I loved and it showed in their passion and dedication in helping me decide. The exterior of our house is difficult to paint given how it was built and the entire team truly did an exceptional job in taking extreme care at every corner to make sure the end result was perfect. Not only that, they make sure to clean up after themselves every day so that your yard doesn't look disorganized and they bring their own porta-potty so they don't have to bother you or go into your house. Every team member that helped on our project was hardworking, well-mannered, and extremely professional. But I want to recognize Juan (project manager), who was always reachable by phone, text, or email and was always responsive whenever I had a question; Saul (project foreman), who constructed a special tent just to put our front door in to let it dry without disturbance and also took additional time to help re-install the lock on the front door afterward - his on-site dedication and presence were invaluable; and of course, Gus (owner), whose leadership helped bring it all together. This is the first time I have understood why it is worth it to pay more for exceptional service. The quality of their work is superb and if you have the extra budget, you should always consider McDermaid Painting first. You never have to worry when you work with them; they are extremely reliable, professional, and dedicated to you and your project. I would highly recommend them and would love to hire them again in the future!"

"About half the walls and ceilings in my house are natural, knotless, white pine. Over the years, they had accumulated water spots, sun fading near windows and where pictures had been hung, and general wear. I wanted the wood to look natural as it had always been - not stained or verathaned. I spoke with 2 different painting companies and the guys who had just refinished my kitchen and bath cabinets. No one wanted to touch the walls and ceilings. I finally got a referral to Gus and McDermaid Painting. They were knowledgeable, thorough, and detaied. The job was done expeditiously and everything was left clean and neat every evening. The crew did a beautiful job!!! Everything looks great! Can't believe the improvement! Also, a different McDermaid crew repaired a lot of the exterior dry rot that I had. They took out and replaced whole window sills, parts of door jambs, etc. I didn't even know that was possible. This crew also did a superb job! VERY HIGHLY RECOMMEND!"

"Mc Dermaid Painting is the best! Everyone is very professional and extremely thorough. They do a complete job. The owner, Gus, is truly a joy to work with. We were gone while they painted our Master Bedroom and returned to a crisp new room fully restored. The outside of our house looks brand new - we have the best looking drain pipes in town!"

"Highest possible recommendation! We had the exterior of our house painted. Words cannot describe how satisfied and impressed I am with the job they did. Real attention to detail and pride in their craft. I think they went above and beyond and it really made an impression on me. They did an amazing job, which included some very tedious, time-consuming hand sanding around a complicated trellis. (Also, I did not expect they would paint all the vent pipes and flashing on the roof! They even washed my skylights and windows --which looked shabby next to the fantastic paint job. ) The crew has unbelievable pride in workmanship. They are very focused when they work (no chatting or goofing around). From Saul, the foreman, down to every single guy on the job, everyone is on the same page. They work efficiently, but don't take any shortcuts. They are real gems. I think it starts at the top. McDermaid's president, Gus Camolinga runs the most organized, professional operation. He is a fantastic guy, super easy to work with. Communication was incredible. (He answers texts and emails within seconds sometimes.) I never felt I was given the run-around. Not only is there a foreman on the job everyday, but Gus and his supervisor Juan stop in to make sure everything is going smoothly and send an extra guy or two, if needed, to keep things on schedule. Simply outstanding! I must also add, they use tip-top equipment, vacuuming up as they sand so there is minimal dust. They clean up everyday and do a thorough walk-around to make sure there are no bits of paper or tape lying around. They also bring all their brushes back to the shop to clean, so that there is no dumping of solvents or paint water in your garden. Really, I've been generally pleased with most contractors over the years. If they do a competent job, charge reasonably and are mostly pleasant, I give a positive review. But McDermaid is honestly the BEST experience I've had with any kind of contract work. Highest quality, beyond competent, and very reasonably priced. I could not be happier. I would give 10 stars if I could."

"McDermaid Painting did a terrific job painting the outside of my house, my fence, and patio structure. Their bid was fair and their work was excellent. They were fast and tidy; no extra paint drops anywhere!"

"I absolutely recommend and endorse Gus and his team at McDermaid! They ALWAYS provide the highest quality service and workmenship. I've used them many, many times for my entire home. They did a gorgeous job on two remodels. Gus figured out the exact color I was aiming for. I wanted the gold of the California hills, but I kept picking colors that were too mustardy. He nailed it! I have rounded edges everywhere which caused doubt as to where to start and finish new colors- again Gus nailed it! My exterior needed many coats more than expected, but they stayed true to their $ estimate. But boy did he help when the rains caused damage. Contractor couldn't find leak, but Gus did! Then when I stupidly left candles on gas fireplace which melted wax (lots) into gas fireplace and thus needed to re-paint to remove toxic smell, they again made it like new! You can't go wrong with McDermaid!"

"Gus and his team have always provided me with the highest quality workmanship possible. They painted the entire interior of my home following an elaborate renovation and the outside a couple of years later. I still get wonderful compliments on the work. They just recently came to my aid when I had a ceiling leak due to my oversight of clogged rain drains. They located the source and put the room back to pristine shape. A nicer guy than Gus you will not find."

"Gus and McDermaid are the best! Tidy, fast and thorough. They painted my house and fence in 2013."

"These are the best house painters in Silicon Valley. If you want a perfect paint job where old problems are fixed and your home looks fantastic, choose Gus Camolinga and McDermaid Painting. McDermaid is not the low price leader but if you work many hours and can't be home to make sure a job is done properly, this is the company for you. When my Willow Glen home's 1938 interior was remodeled in 2006, McDermaid painted my newly replastered walls. Although I had already chosen the colors for my rooms, Gus made a suggestion that made a huge difference. In 2009, when I installed a new custom wooden garage door, McDermaid painted it to perfection. In 2012 McDermaid painted my home's exterior. I found many imperfections due to a temporary issue with one of the foreman, . Gus made everything right, right away. I don't think you can find a better paint contractor than Gus Camolina's McDermaid Painting."

"The finish on the cedar shingle siding looks very nice and even, and it removed the stains left by a concrete contractor. However, the clean up was not complete, and I had to clean up some drips after they left."

"I would just like to say how happy I am with all of the painting that was done to my new home. Both inside and the outside as well. It all just looks so nice, especially the the outside, there was a lot of work just to get it ready to paint. It really does look so nice. Thank you guys very much."

"We have used Gus and McDermaid Painting on many projects. This most recent one, a 4500 sq ft residence (built from the ground up) was no exception. His work makes all of the trades shine! His team can do everything from interior paint, plaster, texture to exterior painting and staining. He even refinished doors and furniture as needed. The level of color precision and attention to detail is almost unheard of in today's world. We can't say enough good things about his team and the company culture of integrity and quality - they truly put the customer first."

"Really the best. From prep to finish, they are skilled. And if your home is on clay, like ours is, and little cracks appear in your walls, McDermaid Painting has a solution that really works!"

"McDermaid painting is the BEST. We have used them inside and outside our home and wouldn't consider anyone else. "Jesus did an excellent job, was very efficient and completed the job, cleaned up the rooms and explained what he had done. I would recommend he and McDermaid highly to all. A true 5 star job. Bill Hedgpeth"

"We had our 35 year old solid cherry kitchen cabinets redone by the crew at McDermaid's Painting company and are grateful daily at the beautiful and precise work they did. They took off all of the old finish inside the base cabinets as well as the doors. The final result looks brand new (and a lighter hue). I highly recommend them. Gus runs a tight ship, takes good care of his crew since they are the heart of the work and communicates very well."

"McDermaid Painting did such a wonderful job, I just had to leave a review. I am a designer and decorator, so reliability and quality is very important. The paint job was timely and high quality (clean lines, even, saturated color, and attention to detail). Second, my client's room had special needs in carrying out the job that McDermaid not only addressed but foresaw. Working with them was easy and my client could not be more pleased with the results. They are not the cheapest painters in the area, but you definitely get what you pay for. I would happily use them again and recommend them for any personal or commercial job. My only con would be that they only took checks at this time and I would have liked them to take credit cards (even with an extra charge). But they were worth it still. The team is quick, respectful, professional and lovely to work with."

"McDermaid Painting is professional in every way, excellent work, friendly, competent crew. They set up with plastic to protect everything in the rooms and cleaned up at the end of each day. Gus really knows his colors. I had tiny samples of the original paint that the decorator had chosen and he could tell it was not what was on the walls. He had larger samples made so I could see the difference. I appreciated his attention to detail so we got a perfect match to the ceilings."

"Mcdermaid painting did a flawless job and they were very professional about it.The only negative thing I would say is they are expensive but you get what you pay for.they went above and beyond my expectations.I would recommend them to anyone and I will call them back when it's time to restrain my backyard room."

"Gus and his team have always provided me with the highest quality workmanship possible. "Gus and his crew did a fantastic job painting our living room and fireplace mantel! They were meticulous around the crown and base moldings and we couldn't be happier! Gus was also super responsive to my request for a quote and answered all emails timely/ Would highly recommend McDermaid Painting."

"I called McDermaid Painting for one of my clients to refinish her tired and worn kitchen cabinets. Gus was professional, on time and a perfect fit for my client! He explained what the problem was, why it happened and the best materials to use to get the finish she wanted (a hand rubbed furniture look.) He was also very conscientious about any odors and off-gassing that might occur and explained the process by which he would do the work to meet her health needs. I couldn't have asked for a better company to work with! Thank you Gus! Thank you McDermaid Painting!"

"Great job repainting our kitchen cabinetry. Very friendly and professional. Helped with the entire process from color selection to final coat. Absolutely smooth finish."

"Small family run business (two brothers working together). They do an excellent job with finishing kitchen cabinetry, entry doors, etc. and are true craftsmen. We had worked mostly with Gus during our recent home remodel to finish the entry door of our house which was made of solid mahogany....what a stunningly beautiful job they did with great attention to detail. Three years later.....our door still looks like with was finished yesterday :-) We were extremely happy with McDermaid Painting and highly recommend them. They will not cut corners and do the job correctly the first time.."

"Gus and his crew are great. The cabinets look fantastic, his price was excellent and the quality is top notch. They even followed up some months later to see if any touch up was necessary. I would definitely use them again if the need arose."

"Cant Say enough about Gus and his team at McDemaid. We use them on a regular basis for all of our cabinet finishing as well as painting on our large construction projects. We are known for our Premium Quality Custom Cabinetry and Furniture and therefor , we choose the best when it comes to finishing. We would like to give them our Highest recommendation. "McDermaid Painting is the best -- highest work quality, work ethic, project management, safety, and job site cleanliness. I just asked them to clean my gutters and they were responsive, timely, and did a superb job."

"An outstanding quality of workmanship. Looks like new and everything was cleaned up to perfection. The worker, Catalino Montez was prompt and very pleasant. Would be happy to recommend your company to any friend who needs home repair.!!"

"Gus is great to work with and he has a professional, dedicated staff that performs high quality work, whether painting, touch ups, repairs, or cleaning. McDermaid Painting is a pleasure to work with and I wish all contractors offered the same level of care to their clients."

"We love McDermaid! The entire team is a pleasure to work with. We so appreciate that they not only look at the walls they are painting but look at the house as a whole. They found things that needed repair that we would never have noticed and proactively took care of them after pointing out what needed to be fixed."

"McDermaid Painting recently completed a total repaint of my restaurant in Palo Alto. It was a challenging project involving a lot of dry rot repair along with dealing with my hours of operations. Not only did McDermaid Painting make my 45 year old restaurant look better than ever, they provided me with an enjoyable experience from start to finish. They finish on time and within budget. Every member of their team provided a level of professionalism and craftsmanship that in my opinion is unmatched. With this being said, I have found a painting company for life!"

"I recently had McDermaid Painting repaint my entire restaurant and could not be happier with the results. This was a challenging project involving lots of dry rot repair and coordinating a schedule to accommodate the hours of my restaurant. The workmanship, attention to detail and professionalism was a top notch. Great experience from start to finish!"

"Gus, Abel and the crew at McDermaid Painting are a pleasure to work with. Gus quickly responded to give us an estimate and got our job scheduled within a short time frame. The team went above and beyond for us, completing our job in less time than estimated and doing some additional touch up work. They are professional, courteous and do excellent work. I highly recommend them."

"Gus was on time, personable and efficient. His crew did excellent painting and down spout work and left the house clean and tidy. Not inexpensive, but very good."

"Gus and his crew are great. The cabinets look fantastic, his price was excellent and the quality is top notch. They even followed up some months later to see if any touch up was necessary. I would definitely use them again if the need arose."

"I wouldn't even consider contacting another painting company. McDermaid is the best! I have used them for years and all my friends rave about them too. Gus Camolinga, the owner, is professional, lovely to work with as is his fabulous crew. He also gives you great referrals for other services too, such as an electrician. You couldn't get someone better. His guys also can do some minor renovations."

"McDermaid Painting is the best. The crews are all knowledgeable and very easy to work with. Once I found Gus and his crews I have never called anyone else so I can't compare them with anyone. I trust them and they always come through for us. Anne and Peter Steiner"

"I have used McDermaid Painting multiple times over the past 15 years. They always impress me with high quality results. Their attention to detail is superb. They keep a super clean work space and are very professional. I would certainly use them again in the future."

"McDermaid Painting is the only company I would use for any painting job, be it difficult or easy. Everyone is professional, nice, efficient, and they can fix almost anything along the way. The quality of workmanship is superb and the paints they use are good quality. It sounds like I am overstating it, but whatever positive review I give McDermaid isn't enough."

"I've been using McDermaid Painting's services for over 20 years, with much of it being repeat business. I'm always impressed with their workmanship, courtesy, and quality."

"Great attention to detail. Professional. Good oversight. Stand by their work. Friendly and responsive. Highly recommend. Known them for 16 years"

"McDermaid is simply the best painting company I have ever worked with. They are creative, professional, really nice, clean up each day, completely honest, use good quality paint....and if asked, they would probably walk on water. Needless to say, I don't even think of calling anyone else. i usually do time and materials because i trust them."

"McDermaid Painting is the best in town without a doubt. We have used them on numerous projects, both big and small and have never been disappointed. Gus, the owner, is "hands on" and extremely knowledgeable. If you want it done right, you need to call McDermaid Painting."

"When I refer McDermaid Painting to client to either finish one of my projects or a referral I have complete confidence that the job will be done correctly and to the highest standards possible. They have never let me down."

"I continue to find Gus, Juan, and Jesus (among others!) totally professional, respectful, precise, careful, and easy to work with. I feel total confidence that my home will be beautifully painted but also that extreme care will be taken with our environment. You guys do a totally first rate job."

"I'm pleased with the work that McDermaid Painting did for me. I thought they were professional in every way. They have a great team, starting with Samantha at the main office who is efficient and always ready to help, Gus who is the master painter and proprietor, and Jaun a top notch manager, along with an army of skilled journeymen painters. It's not easy to find people that will pay attention to detail the way that McDermaid does, which is why I'm so happy to have finally found a painting company that I can trust to do it the right way. I plan to be their customer for life!!"

"Everything was done on time and far exceeded all expectations. My client was very please"
